Blanks update as of 22.2.24, as we approach winter blackfish time, I’ve had a number of enquires re; blackfish rods and blanks.
This year I’ve built a few of each Snyder model for estuary blackfishing in 1 pc ready to go, various configurations as opposed to the standard eva & pipe seats. I will of course be getting a shipment of Gary Howard rods for winter to complement the Synder range.
A number of customers have enquired as to the blank’s markings and to the meaning of the letters and numbers. Generally speaking, the letters identify the taper of the blank, for example ‘CR’ Club Rod taper is slow, slow and soft taking time to load-up. Great for blackfishing, bream and whiting. At the other end of the spectrum is “FSU” Fast Surf Utility, fast taper, stiffer blank loads-up fast. Great for live baiting mainly for jewfish and snapper and lifting up rocks n break walls.
I hope this gives you a better general understanding and overview, my advice is don’t get too in the details of the blanks if your new to this, basically tell me the type of fishing you want to do and I’ll give you a selection of blanks fit for that purpose, then hold them in your hand and load it up and pick what feels good for you.
